☞ Character Information;
Character Name: Sunao Fujimori
Canon: Sukisho
OU or AU?: OU
Canon point: Before any of the major plot begins to occur and change things: At the end of Ep. 8.

Setting:
In general, the world of Sukisho is basically the normal world, with only a few minor notes. The first, as it was originally a BL game before an anime, is the distinct lack of females. The population ratio is likely a starker contrast than the one in real life, though I’m hesitant to give percentages since the main location is an all boys school. However, the fact of men dressing up to fill women’s roles in supplementary material, as well as the fact that male/male relationships are fully condoned and promoted, gives the impression that guys are more used to being with ones of the same sex in this world.

The other attribute is the general accepting mentality that the world’s occupants seem to have. From multiple personalities to mental experiments, hot springs that age swap to cosplaying thieves. Not much seems to phase the characters at large.

History: http://sukisyo.wikia.com/wiki/Sunao_Fujimori
I’m going to slightly expand on this.

Sunao’s history begins with other people. Aizawa was a scientist prone to experimentation on others, especially in mental areas and subliminal training--specifically kinds of sleeper agents and creating new personas in other people. His close assistant was Nanami, until Nanami met a man named Shinichirou and fell in love with him. Shinichirou went on to show Nanami the error of his ways, more or less, and Nanami left Aizawa, and instead went on with Shinichirou to help teach and raise children at an all boy’s school.

Two of those boys being Sunao and Sora, orphans raised at the school. Shinichirou and Nanami were like siblings to the two, and along with the boys’ friend Matsuri, things were happy for a few years. This shifted to a halt when Matsuri told the others he was moving away, and soon after he left, Sunao and Sora were kidnapped by Aizawa to be used in experiments as revenge for Nanami leaving him.

For an undisclosed amount of time, the young Sora and Sunao were experimented on, having only each other for comfort. After one time where Sunao returned heavily bandaged and bruised, and at first acting unresponsive, Sora reacted--in a moment’s time creating a completely new persona that could be strong and protect Sunao: Yoru.

Both Yoru and Sora coaxed Sunao into doing the same, and through that, Ran was born. The alternate personas protected the minds of their others while taking care of each other, and a severe, unbreakable bond was formed between Yoru and Ran. For another amount of time, this was life, and it went on in a way that was bearable, and able to be lived.

This ended when Shinichirou and Nanami came to rescue the pair. While fleeing, Sunao tripped and hurt his leg enough that he could no longer run, and while clinging to Sora and begging him not to leave, Sora pried Sunao’s fingers off and Shinichirou picked Sora up for the three to flee, leaving Sunao. The truth of what happened was that Aizawa tested Sora’s training in that moment, prompting a command for Sora to follow (“let go”), but this wasn’t learned until far later, and the fact of Sora’s hand pulling away--rather than the continued experiments or the abandonment--was the sole focus that Sunao now revolved around.

Aizawa used this later on, when Sunao returned to the world and admitted himself into the school that Sora and the returned Matsuri were at--trying to have Sunao trap Sora so Aizawa could further his studies on Sora, the “subject with the highest will power,” which would also allow Sunao his revenge on Sora and the others for leaving him.

Sunao seemed reluctant on this, once he intrigated back into their little society, both stating to the others that he wanted to move on from the past, and being difficult when given orders from Aizawa or his son. What did gain Sunao’s ire, more than nearly anything, was that Sora had seemingly forgotten everything as a result from a fall from a fourth story window. That, coupled with the fact of Sora being wary of Sunao because the first night they met, Ran attempted to molest him, created a nearly hostile distance between them--a fact complicated by Yoru and Ran being “affectionate” as much as possible.

Matsuri, seeking to return to the days of their childhood, came up with a club for all three of them to be in, and made them do increasing ridiculous things. That forced them to stay close to each other, as well as giving each a common enemy in all of the hassle: Matsuri. Over time, Sora and Sunao started to become something like friends again, interrupted at intervals by Sunao’s mood swings and “tsundere” ways. The only daily problem continued to be the presence of Yoru and Ran, enough that Sora and Sunao were forced by Nanami to undergo a full check-up. While in the hospital, a place reminiscent of their past, Sunao came into Sora’s room for comfort, and Sora had Sunao sleep next to him that night, a complete change from how things were at the beginning of their re-meeting.

From there on, the plot speeds up; Sora and Sunao become even closer, Sunao goes through with the plan of revenge and causes Sora to harm Shinichirou, before rethinking it all as he’s used as bait to gain Sora for Aizawa, and finally rescued in a way that heals the prior wounds, allowing Sunao to finally and genuinely move on from the past.

But he’s not quite at that part yet.

Personality:
I’ll cover Ran first before I get to Sunao, as Ran is a bit more straightforward.

Ran was created for the sole purpose of allowing Sunao to continue existing with his mind intact. For that purpose, Ran was the other half of Yoru--where Yoru was strong and fierce, Ran was delicate and needy, and where Yoru was aggressive, Ran was only submissive. This was for the purpose of both Sunao and Ran coming to rely entirely on Sora and Yoru, and it worked entirely.

Ran’s entire existence prioritizes Yoru, just as the same is true for Yoru. Ran is decidedly possessive, and entirely selfish, doing whatever is possible to see Yoru as much as he can. Where it’s shown that Yoru isn’t against being with others, Ran’s is a bit different. He’s willing to seduce others to suit his goals--like molesting Sora so Yoru will take over--but loves Yoru more than anything else in the world. As shown in the manga, Ran can have feelings towards others, but it remains a lesser love than the one towards the man who is everything to Ran.

Sunao, on the other hand, is both similar and entirely different. Like Ran, Sunao prioritizes Sora, but Sunao is fond of completely denying his emotions, and lying about how he feels about others. Half of this is personality, but the rest is provoked by others’ actions towards Sunao: If he feels used or abandoned, or treated like he’s lesser than he should be, Sunao becomes cold and nearly hostile. Sunao is someone who does not easily forgive, and he carries a grudge as long as he lives unless proven wrong in his viewpoints. He’s not above working with people that he hates, but he’ll still continuously tear them down verbally as long as they’re in the same vicinity.

On the opposite side, Sunao is a very loyal friend, staying close to those he cares about, and wanting to be by their side often. Because of his past and personality, he doesn’t easily make friends, or care to at all, but he’s not unwilling to bond with others-- There will just always be a distance formed by a past he can’t speak of so easily. For those select few that he forms a close bond with, he’ll be extremely and passively possessive, and if it seems like those people have others they care about more, Sunao will become harsh and cold, punishing that friend for their “infidelity”-- which is honestly more about his feelings that he’ll be left behind without a thought backward.

The entirety of Sunao’s being is basically made up of two fears and one grudge: The fear of abandonment, and being left behind. The fear of being experimented on again, of being dissected and drugged, and used for another’s desire. And the sole grudge of paying back the people who abandoned him back when he was young, and in particular-- Sora, the one whose fingers slipped from Sunao’s seemingly on purpose. Sunao’s hatred is honest, but a sham as well--he tries to hate Sora, who left him, so he won’t love him again, and be destroyed once more when he’s abandoned yet again.

Abilities:
The only thing that could possibly count as an ability, and I hesitate to label it as such, would be the transition between Sunao and Ran, as it’s not a simple case of multiple personalities, and is something more conscious than that. In contrast to Sora and Yoru, who seems to have specific triggers to pull the inner persona out, Ran moving to the forefront can be seen as random at times, and wholly based on Ran’s wants and whims rather than any specific attribute. This, like in canon, will likely place Sunao in a few awkward situations resulting from Ran’s boredom and wants.

Another fact to note is that, as Ran, Sunao’s normal pink eyes turn bright magenta in color, and his voice hitches up an octave.

Network sample:
[ The video snaps on abruptly, to show a pastel-haired boy glaring angrily at the screen. His eyes narrow in suspicion, then he glances away in annoyance. What is this thing supposed to do for him? ]

I’m looking for someone called Hashiba Sora… Or Honjou Matsuri. If anyone knows who they are, tell them that Fujimori is looking for them.

[ There’s a beat, and the nonchalant irritation slips away to reveal actual anger, heavy and pointed at one existence that Sunao doesn’t even know is here or not. He glares heatedly, pink eyes shifting fluidly to magenta in a moment’s time.

The voice that speaks is slightly higher. ]

Sora, bring Yoru here! Right now! I’ll find you if you don’t.

[ In the back of his mind, Sunao grimaces at Ran’s takeover. At least it wasn’t as embarrassing as it could have been…. ]

Log sample:
…Being away from everything he knew was one thing entirely. Being dumped into this mess of things, without Hashiba, or Matsuri, or nii-chan or anyone… It wasn’t the worst thing that could happen, but it ranked up there. No one here, at least, was trying to use him, or manipulate to their own ends. He had a room of his own, and it didn’t take favors or doing well in experiments to get him there. It wasn’t as bad as it could be. It wasn’t his choice, but it didn’t necessarily have to be a bad experience while he tried to return home to finish out his goals.

No. It didn’t. But there was one aspect that Nao could not overlook. One simple, solitary thing that began to haunt his sight as he moved through the day (night? How could you even tell?).

They were surrounded by water.

All right, it was something that was obvious, but there it was! He couldn’t stand it! He couldn’t take being near a shallow pond of water, and trying to overcome his fears in the school pool barely did anything. And now, here-- Now, he was surrounded by water, all the time, and seemingly the only thing stopped it from sweeping in to crush and drown him was a thin-looking layer of glass. He was going to be sick. There had to be a way to get over this, or something--

But what if it did just break? What if he died here, in this place that didn’t even exist, without ever going back and confronting Hashiba? What if this was how it ended, here, under what he feared and hated, without ever telling Sora that he lov--

That he hated him more than anything. That he would put him through what Sunao had been through ten times over. That he would never forgive him for everything that he had done-- And that he had just forgotten him after, like nothing had even mattered…!

Nao imagined he felt humor coming from the place in his mind that Ran rested. Humor and a smug assuredness of emotion. Like Sunao cared what Ran thought. Like he cared about Sora--or Yoru--at all. He hated them. All of them.

…He just wished he wasn’t so alone here.
